How it all started ?
Vaatalya is a heartwarming journey of over a decade, where a family traded city life for a richer existence on a 9-acre haven since 2007. Instead of leasing to industries, we embarked on the challenging path of crafting a sustainable retreat. Our commitment led us to harmonize with available resources, discovering the beauty of self-sufficiency and the joy in embracing the changing seasons and our community. This fulfilling adventure endures, as we persist in our quest for self-reliance and meaningful connections.
We're a family, including humans, dogs (Chatur and Laila) & cows, aged 7 to 92. Living, working, and celebrating together, we invite you to join our alternative disconnected mountaintop living. Come heal, seek, and connect in nature's embrace. Our focus: sustainability, creativity, self-expression, and joyful experiences that uplift spirits and nurture community. Welcome to our loving family!

From a journey that started back in 2007, in 2022 we are now running our operations, innovation & creating experimental solutions with various students and professionals from local, government & private sectors via our workexchange and internship programes.
While we generate funds for this work from the paid travellers who stays with us, our 04 business models at Vaatalay gives us an ecosystem to the functioning of this community beautifully.

Our decade long journey @vaatalya
Vaatalya is a decade long journey of a family who left the city to embrace a more wholesome, sustainable life and showcase a model to the world that one can live in harmony with nature. We decided to challenge ourselves to live with the resources at hand and understand what it truly means to be self sufficient and find happiness in surrendering to the four seasons and peacefully co-existing with the community around. It's been a very fulfilling ride ever since.

Sustainable Architecture
The design, construction & architect of retreat is done by the hosts themselves with the help of local artisans. The know-how of the construction is passed to the local artisans from generation to generation in mostly oral and empirical tradition by working as an apprentice for a number of years. We have blended this ancient form of architecture with have good use of the modern facilities to ensure that we do not compromise on the basic comfort of life.

Herbal & Aromatic Plants
Plants have been used for therapeutic, religious, cosmetic, nutritional, and beautification purposes since ancient times and humanity of all civilizations and cultures are familiar with their usage. Herbs have been used prevalently as home remedies to treat diseases seasonal like cough, cold, stomach ache etc in several countries of Asia, Africa and Europe.

Eco Impact & Initiatives
Farming at Vaatalya today is the same as it has been on small farms in these areas for hundreds of years. Every year we try to improve our farming and varieties of salads, herbs, vegetables, and pulses are all coming up. Out of our 9 acres mountain top land, we have induged in almost 07 acres of farms and orchards.
